The Scorch Trials Summary
But then he gets chucked into a desert wasteland with hardly any food or water and definitely not enough protection from the sun. The Gladers have to work their way through this desert full of human beings slowly being controlled by the Flare and any other horrors WICKED decide to throw at them, in order to get to the safe haven by the designated time and finally be free of all these trials. But can Thomas deal with the heat of the scorch and the betrayal of his friends? I am obsessed with it and cannot wait for the second prequel coming out in September! It could get a bit uninteresting at moments but then there are moments that are so thrilling that they have you on the edge of your seat and your heart beating fast desperate to know what might happen next! It just gives you a bit more to think about which is really good as I like mentally challenging books that make you think a lot.
The story picks up where the series' previous installment, The Maze Runner , left off. The Gladers have escaped the Maze and are resting in dorm-like chambers in the rescue facility. The Maze was a horrific set of trials set up as a human experiment.

The Scorch Trials is a young adult post-apocalyptic dystopian science fiction novel written by American author James Dashner and the second book, fourth chronologically, in The Maze Runner series. The book starts with Thomas sleeping in the dormitory with the other teenagers — known as the Gladers , who had escaped from the Maze in the previous book — where they had been brought by a group of rescuers. Thomas is woken by a telepathic communication with Teresa, the only girl from the Glade, who is afraid. As Thomas wakes up, he finds that the facility is being attacked by Cranks — aggressive zombie-like people that have been affected by a plague known as the Flare. The Flare is a disease that attacks the brain, causing victims to lose their humanity and become crazy. Cranks were normal citizens before The Flare, after which they became crazed zombie-like killers.
Out of pages, Thomas left you with the cliff hanger of "and finally he slept" 29 times. Sounds fun, doesn't it? Then try to tell me you di. Then try to tell me you didn't notice it. Although this book was fast passed, a lot of it was filler and this book could really just have been shrunken into about pages at the max. I gave this book 2 stars only because James Dashner was able to create such real characters by giving them actual human qualities.
