Carlos, Keesha and Phoebe do not appear in this book, though a student called "John" in the book bears an uncanny physical resemblance to Carlos. The book depicts the class's first field trip with Ms. Despite the title, the bus is not depicted as directly causing the strange events of the field trip as it would be in later books and the television series. In this book, strange events just seem to happen with no explanation and continue to happen after the kids leave the bus in a cloud.

First, the book pushes readers to think about tough issues because on one page, Carlos said, "I can't believe we drink this stuff. Even though it continues to say the water goes through filtration process, it pushed the reader to think about how poorly the water is and how much trash goes into oceans or bays. Next, I enjoyed the point of view in the story. It has many people talking not just one; therefore, you have multiple people speaking. There was Carlos, Arnold, Ms.
It originally aired on November 12th, Arnold and Wanda are getting water for their waterworks project in the girls' bathroom. Arnold describes his project as real waterworks and Wanda Li describes it as "Yawn burger with a side of snores". Arnold M. Perlstein voices his concern of getting caught, to which Wanda teases, "Who's going to catch you in the girls' bathroom?
