Water purification - WikipediaWater purification systems for domestic use have drawn significant attention over the past few years. This can be related to the improvement of public health and concern for water contamination. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether home water purification systems eliminate the essential materials such as fluoride besides filtrating the heavy ions and other unwanted particles out of water. In this experimental study, six most frequently used commercial brands of water purifiers were evaluated and compared. Specimens were collected right before and after setting up the device, and 6 months later. Then, spectrophotometry the Harrison device was performed to compare fluoride clearance by each home water cleaner device.
The Effectiveness of Home Water Purification Systems on the Amount of Fluoride in Drinking Water
Four types of water filters
On a Season 5 episode of the popular, post-apocalyptic television show " The Walking Dead " a group of survivors find themselves out of clean water in an unfamiliar area. The character Rosita takes an empty plastic bottle, cuts off the bottom and begins to fill it with sand and rocks. She then begins to slowly pour cloudy water from a nearby stream through it. The episode didn't show the necessary step of sterilizing the water after filtering whether through boiling, disinfection with a chemical agent such as bleach, or UV exposure to sunlight This method does work and can keep you heathly if clean potable water or a manufactured water filter system are unobtainable. It is important to try and find the cleanest water available, and under no circumstances should you try and filter sewage runoff or irradiated water using this process. Use scissors or a knife to cut off the bottom part of the bottle you will be putting the filter material in.

Water purification is the process of removing undesirable chemicals, biological contaminants, suspended solids, and gases from water. The goal is to produce water fit for specific purposes. Most water is purified and disinfected for human consumption drinking water , but water purification may also be carried out for a variety of other purposes, including medical, pharmacological, chemical, and industrial applications. The methods used include physical processes such as filtration , sedimentation , and distillation ; biological processes such as slow sand filters or biologically active carbon ; chemical processes such as flocculation and chlorination ; and the use of electromagnetic radiation such as ultraviolet light. Water purification may reduce the concentration of particulate matter including suspended particles , parasites , bacteria , algae , viruses , and fungi as well as reduce the concentration of a range of dissolved and particulate matter.
