Boom 2 - Download ManualSeth Weintraub. One of my absolute favorite Bluetooth speakers got a huge update today. And it has. The UE Boom 2 also now includes a new tap control that allows you to start, pause and skip songs, without needing to have your phone in-hand. Most of my gripes around the UE Boom 2 are around this cable and connection. It is square at the tip so it is a little easier to pop in than a generic MicroUSB cable which is a pain in the ass.

The UE Megaboom 3 has what you want in a portable Bluetooth speaker: good sound quality, long battery life, ruggedness and more. Speakers featuring virtual assistants such as Alexa and Google Assistant have eclipsed regular old portable Bluetooth speakers as the audio trend of the moment. It has an app to go along with it to add additional functionality like an alarm and the Block Party feature that allows up to three devices to connect to the speaker to share music. I did have several annoying problems with some of the Boom 2 features but never with audio quality. It has a decent heft to it and looks and feels well made. I like the colors of the Boom 2 better than the original. The blue area that contains the volume controls is a dull blue and the grating of the speaker is a different shade of blue altogether; it is a darker, deeper blue than the silicone area and even has a hint of violet in it under some lighting conditions. The Boom 2 is rated IPX7 which means that it is waterproof up to a depth of one meter for 30 minutes.
