Internet Explorer 6. Over six chapters, the book ranges from basic topics such as gradients, shadows and rounded corners, to some of the more complicated aspects of CSS3 including advanced selectors, generated content and animations. You can purchase the book here or read a sample chapter, on CSS3 transitions, here. You can skip to the end and leave a response. Be realistic. Got it in the mail the other day and finished it last night. I will be buying all of these books though, because they are so well designed, quick to read and great references.

Cederholm Dan. CSS3 for Web Designers

I sat down with a cup of coffee near our freshly set up Christmas tree and got down to reading. He has a way with words that truly educates as much as it entertains. I read a lot online. I appreciate the speedy delivery of a PDF, but I also enjoy sitting down and reading printed copy. One of the initial themes I quickly related to in CSS3 for Web Designers was Dan reiterating that while CSS3 can and should be implemented today, it should be used with a purpose, and the author should recognize the impact of the decision to use CSS3.

Having received a copy of this lightweight book in electronic format, I promptly loaded it onto my iPad in preparation for a flight. The book proved to be so brief and easy-to-read, in fact, that I was through its pages before I even boarded my plane. Therefore, I took some time on my flight to write up my thoughts on said book. Like HTML5 for Web Designers before it, A Book Apart books aren't meant to be exhaustive tomes but instead focus on the current state of affairs: what should we be aware of and can implement right now. Cederholm's comfortable and affable writing makes this an enjoyable read and definitely covered a number of popular CSS3 features such as border radius, text shadow, box shadow, transitions, animations, and more.

CSS3 IS FOR EVERYONE. I've been hearing this quite a bit from fellow web designers across the globe: “I can't wait to use CSS when it's done.” But the truth.
