What is it about dinosaurs that so captures the imagination of young children? I had no idea my 4-year-old even knew what a dinosaur was until we visited the Natural History Museum in London, where she was beside herself with excitement over the dinosaur skeletons, asking endless questions, and wanting to see as many as possible. This book is so fun! Little dino lovers and their dino-loving parents will delight in lifting the flaps and discovering the baby dinosaurs and all kinds of fun sounds. With its sturdy construction and durable pages, this book is perfect for the toddler to preschool set. Sal wants to be a T. Rex when she grows up, because, well, they're awesome!

Halloween Books for Kids

By Brenda Power , Ph. PreK—K , 1—2. Go Dog Go by Dr. Seuss was the first book I could read, I still have the copy form my childhood home. Scrawled on the inside cover is my name, and on many pages inside the book I've copied individual letters from words in the story - trying, in my own way, to mimic the writing of Dr. Even the youngest children love to scrawl their names, pictures, and ideas on blank paper - not to mention the walls and floors! Helping children make and publish their own books taps into this love of creating and owning written words.

And your kids will love them! A good, high-quality read-aloud not only captures the attention of the audience through the illustrations and text, but also provides a variety of opportunities for young children to develop important emergent literacy skills such as rhyming, concepts of print, alliteration and many more. All too often, books are chosen because of the character on the cover instead of the content on the pages. The characters in this story work together to pull a pumpkin off the vine. This book would make a wonderful addition to any classroom library. After reading the story, make pumpkin pie with your children.
