In the book, Howard Gardner elucidates on the different types of minds that the society will require in order to flourish in the imminent future. Five Minds for the Future also applies emphasis upon the kind of minds that need to be cultivated in a world where change is inevitable. Gardner, after a lot of research, has classified minds of individuals into five different types, based on the various ways that an individual perceives, thinks and acts. While the first three types are concerned with intellect, the latter two deal with character. According to Gardner, these different ways of thinking have to be instilled into students by educators to provide intellectual as well as personality development.
