A Gossip Girl Book Series Review

There are times in life where you need to stand up tall, swallow your pride and admit your mistakes. Today I'm doing just that. Around this time last year I gave my first impressions of a new teen drama series, labelling its characters "wooden" and its plot "completely uninteresting". So there we have it. I was wrong. In my defence, the version of the pilot I saw was quite crappy and was subsequently "re-worked" before the series aired - but that's not for here. So much have I become hooked on the antics of our gang from the Upper East Side that I recently decided to delve deeper and read the books that provided the inspiration for the series.
You don't know me yet, but you will soon. I've been quiet until now, but something has happened, and I can't shut up about it: S is gone. Well, to answer that question I'm going to have to backtrack, back to last winter of our sophomore year, when our pretty, rose-scented bubble burst. It all started with three inseparable, perfectly innocent year-olds, S, B, and N. You know you love me, Gossip Girl.
Almost every time a beloved book series is made into a TV series or film, diehard book fans cringe just a little bit. It's not often that every nuance of a written story translates visually on the big or small screen. In the book series, Eric is an invisible character, away at university from the start because he is Serena's older brother. GG producer Stephanie Savage told People that this decision was made because the creators wanted a better reason for Serena to come home from boarding school. His plot lines, from coming out as the show's only major gay character to helping Jenny Humphrey through tough times, became pivotal. What makes a human more human than a canine best friend? In the book series, Chuck Bass had a literal pet monkey.

And while things wrapped up pretty nicely, we are here for an update on our favourite characters, whom we grew up with. While there's not an official release date, it is thought that the new series - which will be made up of 10 episodes - will be out at the beginning of Having said that, the revamped show is said to have a brand spanking new cast and characters, so at least we won't have other actors trying to play their iconic roles.
