Those who break the law have committed statutory rape. Statutory rape laws are premised on the assumption that minors are incapable of giving informed consent to sexual activities. The age of consent can vary among states, and some states differentiate between consensual sex between minors who are close in age for example, two teenagers of the same age , as opposed to sex between a minor and a much older adult.

Gun laws in New York regulate the sale, possession, and use of firearms and ammunition in the U. New York Civil Rights Law art. New York state law does not require a license to own or possess long guns, but does require a permit to legally possess or own a pistol. Usually, all firearms must comply with the NY SAFE Act , which bans firearms that it defines as assault weapons from ownership by private citizens, unless they were owned prior to the ban. The City of New York has its own set of laws, and requires permits to own any long gun or pistol. The U.
