But while the world around us seem to darken as the year went by, in the universe of fantasy fiction there were hundreds of new stars born to lighten our paths! It was a great year for debuts and for series ending. There were dragons and gods, courts and assassins. Light battling dark and sometimes even dark battling dark. The whole year it seemed every week a new title came out that made our to-be-read lists that much higher. Instead, after much debate, we picked our top 20 books and 30 ish others that just missed the cut. The first 30 are listed in order of release and are tied for 21st place.
