Elephant & Piggie Story Time - Quarryville Library

All researchers and contributors to Ideas and Innovations In Early Childhood Education and Care are either teachers or parents of young children. While early childhood education and care is getting more attention from politicians and the media, too often those shaping policy and discussions related to early childhood education and care are not the people who are more directly involved with the work. The books are all great, but which one is the best? Below is my ranking of all 25 Elephant and Piggie Books counting down to the number 1 book along with a little commentary on Listen To My Trumpet Feb

Let's Go for a Drive! (An Elephant and Piggie Book) by Mo Willems - read aloud, read along

All 25 Elephant and Piggie Books by Mo Willems

This Mo Willems book list contains, in our opinion, his funniest and most engaging books. If you have kids and have never read a book by Mo Willems, you are about to discover books that will turn even the most reluctant young reader into an absolute book fanatic! Mo Willems really gets kids. He knows just how to make them laugh. He captures their attention with characters that are delightfully witty and funny. Mo Willems books so inspired my own kids that they have attempted to write their own spin-offs of his books multiple times. Books that inspire both reading and writing without bribes or rewards?

Keep your family well read

The obsession with Elephant and Piggie , best friends who star in a series of books by Sesame Street veteran and Pigeon provider Mo Willems, runs deep in my household. To give you an idea:. But mostly because Willems has managed to write beginning reader books that are snappy, fun, and best of all, funny. Legit funny. Here are my 10 favorite moments in the series, not that you can really go wrong.

I highly recommend all of the Elephant and Piggie books. They are fun, easy to navigate, and have no superfluous words or details in the illustrations , making it easy for new readers to focus on what's important and to enjoy the reading experience. They also stress the value of friendship and getting along with others. The Elephant and Piggie books are fun to read aloud to younger children who love the funny stories about the two friends. I recommend the books for ages and especially beginning readers from years old.

Either way, I have some hard news. This series is coming to an end. But the good news is that the final book, The Thank You Book is a gem. If you love this series as much as I do and boy do I love it! But I admit I had a hard time reading the final few pages. The speech bubbles used for the dialog help break down the stories into predictable language for new readers.
