THE FUNCTIONS OF THE SPIRIT, THE SOUL, AND THE BODYAccording to this concept soul is the invisible inner spiritual part, while body is the visible outer corporal part. By his spirit and soul and body being kept. From this we can easily understand that the whole person comprises. Since God has distinguished the human spirit from the human soul, we conclude that man is composed of not two,. Is it a matter of any consequence to divide spirit and soul?
Spirit, Soul and Body – How God Designed Us
This simple diagram illustrates these parts, showing the body as our outer part, which can be seen, the soul as our inward part, and our spirit as our innermost, hidden part. Our body through its five senses contacts the visible, touchable, tangible things of the material world. Our soul, though unseen, is just as real as our body. By our soul, we experience things in the psychological realm. In fact, the Greek word for soul in the Bible is psuche , which is also the root word of psychology. Our soul is composed of our mind, which enables us to do things like think, reason, consider, remember, and wonder; our emotions, which enable us to have feelings like happiness, sorrow, anger, relief, and compassion; and our will, which enables us to choose and make decisions. Our mind, emotion, and will make up our soul, which is our personality, who we are within.
According to science, a human being is simply a physical body made up of flesh, blood, and bones. Of course, this erroneous concept stems from the darkened mind of fallen man…not God. All are inextricably intertwined and interdependent. The priority and order are obvious, spirit, soul, and body…not body, soul, and spirit. The doctrine of the Trinity explained above, is one example.
Body, soul and spirit
Explanatory Notes, and Preface 1, and Preface 2 Explanatory Notes The Spiritual Man is a translation of the only book of any substantial size which brother Watchman Nee himself ever wrote. At the time of writing it he felt this work might be his last contribution to the church, although since then God has graciously overruled. Long after the book's initial publication in Chinese our brother once was heard to express the thought that it should not be reprinted because, it being such a "perfect" treatment of its subject, he was fearful lest the book become to its readers merely a manual of principles and not a guide to experience as well. But in view of the urgent need among the children of God today for help on spiritual life and warfare, and knowing our brother as one who is always open to God's way and most desirous to serve His people with all that God has given him, we conclude that he would doubtless permit it to be circulated in English. Hence this translation.
