Heat transfer - WikipediaThese books are used by students of top universities, institutes and colleges. The book gives the most relevant, comprehensive, and readable information about the physical origins of mass and heat transfer and is recommended for students who are looking for factual information on the subject. While there is emphasis on the original fundamentals as found in the previous editions, the highlight of this revised edition is the inclusion of new application areas of heat transfer. Through this book, readers will learn about the physical principles of heat transfer, the methods of computing heat transfer rates and material temperatures, the phenomena behind any process or system that involves heat transfer, and the application of concepts to real processes and systems. The chapters in the book provide valuable insights on the principles of conduction, convection, boiling and condensation, heat exchangers, radiation, and diffusion mass transfer.

Heat transfer is a discipline of thermal engineering that concerns the generation, use, conversion, and exchange of thermal energy heat between physical systems. Heat transfer is classified into various mechanisms, such as thermal conduction , thermal convection , thermal radiation , and transfer of energy by phase changes. Engineers also consider the transfer of mass of differing chemical species, either cold or hot, to achieve heat transfer. While these mechanisms have distinct characteristics, they often occur simultaneously in the same system. Heat conduction, also called diffusion, is the direct microscopic exchange of kinetic energy of particles through the boundary between two systems.
